Requirements Definition

A Requirements Definition states the rationale, goals and description of a system. It is both a roadmap for the project and criteria for assessing completion. It is an often skipped but critical step.

Process:

  • Assess existing operations: Review systems, interview users, discuss options with management.
  • Review constraints: budget, time, personnel and technical.
  • Evaluate strengths and enabling conditions.
  • Develop a Requirements Definition document.
